A cute baby in blue attire sitting on green grass during the day.

My child lacks focus / can’t sit in one place all day…

This is actually very common with children today.

And at Lady Evelyn Independent School, being a forward-thinking, problem-solving school, we’ve designed our curriculum and timetable specifically with this in mind.

Firstly, every single live class is recorded.

So if a student ever struggles to focus, or misses something, they can simply go back to their student platform and re-watch the lesson.

That flexibility makes a huge difference.

Secondly, we have multiple breaks built into the school day.

Students are encouraged to step away from their devices.

    To move around.

    To reset.

That breathing space between lessons helps them come back refreshed and ready to focus again.

And what we’ve generally seen is that students who struggled with focus in traditional schools often perform much better once they join Lady Evelyn.

Because of the level of personalisation.

    And the attention to detail.

They often end up achieving significantly higher marks than they did before.

And this concern is completely fair, especially in this day and age.

    There are constant distractions.

    Constant stimulation.

    Constant dopamine.

What’s interesting is that the way our school environment is designed actually aligns very closely with how children naturally engage.

Students already enjoy learning through video.

    They’re used to watching content.

    Interacting.

    Communicating in real time.

And the classroom environment reflects that.

The teacher is live on camera.

    Students interact through the chat.

They engage with their peers during the lesson.

One of the biggest pieces of feedback we consistently receive is just how personalised and engaging the classes feel.

    Alhamdulillah.

And what’s interesting is that we often get this exact question from our most successful parents.

    They’re thinking ahead.

    They’re worried about focus.

They’re worried about whether their child will cope.

And very often, within the first week, they come back surprised.

They tell us how engaged their child is.

    How quickly they became interested.

Sometimes they even joke that their child gets so hooked into class that they have to be reminded to step away afterwards.

There was one parent, for example, whose child showed ADHD-type symptoms.

    She was hyperactive.

    She needed constant stimulation.

    She struggled to sit still.

And because of that, he was very sceptical about online schooling.

He genuinely didn’t think it would work.

But because of how engaging the classes were, and how the system was designed, she settled in.

And alhamdulillah, she’s now been with us for six years.

So while the concern is completely valid, what we’ve seen in practice is that this environment often works far better for children who struggle with focus than traditional classrooms ever did.
